Our Story
Gil's Sweet Abilities is on a mission to redefine opportunity for adults with disabilities. Gilbert Valenzuela, diagnosed with autism at 4 years old, led a busy life throughout his school years. However, after graduation hit, those activities very suddenly dried up.
That's when Gil's Sweet Abilities was born.
Mom, Jeanette, a long time home-baker in Whittier, decided to bring Gilbert on as a paid employee. This gave him an opportunity to earn money for the things he wanted while simultaneously perfecting his skills as a baker. Working side by side, the mother and son duo make delicious treats for the people of Whittier and beyond. They hope to one day have a brick-and-mortar store where they can provide fulfilling employment opportunities for individuals with unique abilities in the South Bay.
Our Products
We specialize in good, old-fashioned cookies, treats, cinnamon rolls, brownies, pies, cake pops, cupcakes and more! You are sure to smile when you close your eyes and bite into one of our fresh cinnamon rolls (Gil's favorite). Everything is made from scratch with love and inclusion!
